Hello, I’m John. I’m an anxiety counsellor based in Brighton & Hove, offering a calm, supportive space for people struggling with anxiety, stress and overthinking.
Many people come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, stuck or unsure where to begin. My role is to sit alongside you, help you make sense of what you are experiencing and support you in finding a way forward that feels clearer and more manageable.
I work in a relational and collaborative way, shaped by the belief that meaningful change comes through understanding rather than pressure. Rather than trying to simply remove difficult feelings, we take time to listen to them and explore what they may be responding to in your life, relationships or past experiences.
Counselling with me is not about diagnosis or quick solutions. It is about creating a steady, supportive space where you can speak openly and begin to understand your experience at your own pace. Some sessions may feel reflective and exploratory, others more focused. There is no single way therapy needs to look.
I pay close attention to how anxiety shows up for you in the present moment, including the effect it has on your body, thoughts and relationships. Together, we work to understand patterns that may have developed over time, often as ways of coping, and consider whether they are still helping you now.
You do not need to arrive with clear goals or the right words. Many people begin counselling simply knowing that something does not feel right. My role is to meet you where you are, offering honesty, curiosity and support as we work through things together.
I hold a Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) in Humanistic Counselling from the University of Chichester. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), fully insured and hold an up-to-date DBS check.
Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £65. I work with adults aged 18 and over.
I offer counselling in person in Brighton, with my practice located close to Preston Park station, as well as online sessions via Google Meet. This provides flexibility in how we work together, depending on what feels most comfortable and accessible for you.
I understand that cost can sometimes be a barrier. A limited number of concessionary spaces are available and can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
If you feel that counselling could be helpful, you are welcome to get in touch. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting, and there is no pressure to know exactly what to say. Whether you are looking for anxiety counselling in Brighton & Hove or online support elsewhere in the UK, you can arrange a free 15-minute call to ask questions and see whether working together feels right for you.
You do not need to have everything figured out before starting. Counselling offers a calm space to slow things down and talk openly about what is going on.
